From Your Visionaries of the Year Candidate:

I am here to ask for your help. It is my privilege to be nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 2023 Visionary of the Year

My childhood friend Purvi passed away from AML at the age of 12, just three months shy of her 13th birthday, a day she was looking forward to--she was finally going to be a teenager! For so many of us, losing her was a life changing moment.

When I was approached by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, I did my research and spoke to families whose lives had been impacted by blood cancer. The way every single one of those families spoke about the support and resources LLS provided was truly incredible.

I have been an ED physician in Georgia for 10+ years. Knowing that LLS can step in for these families after I step out of their room will undoubtedly positively impact our community.

As I reflect on my childhood memories with our South Florida friends, we are so grateful to have known Purvi and her beautiful smile. We wanted to come together and, in memory of Purvi, make a mark on future research and provide hope for those that are newly diagnosed.

May friend groups stay whole, forever moving forward.

With your help, I am committed to reaching my goal, which will go directly to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

With your support, I will work tirelessly, from  Now until June 10th. I humbly ask that you open your heart and help me meet our goal financially however you can.

Thank You

Preyasi Kothari, M.D.
